Baseball Bat Basics
All bats must meet Little League rules to be used in our practices or games. All bats must be approved by the USA Baseball Bat Standard.
Are Wood Bats Allowed?
Yes! Solid, one piece wood bats are approved for use under USABat with or without the USA Baseball Certification Mark. Multi-piece and composite wood bats must feature the USA Baseball Certification Mark to be approved for play.
Does the USABat Standard impact T-Ball?
Yes! Under the USABat Standard, certified tee ball bats will feature the USA Baseball mark and text which reads ONLY FOR USE WITH APPROVED TEE BALLS.
Does USABat have a barrel diameter limit?
USABats approved bats are certified with barrel diameters of 2-5/8" and less. Approved bats feature a variety of barrel diameters including 2-5/8", 2-1/2", 2-3/8", 2-1/4", and 2". As long as a bat features the USA Baseball mark and appears on the approved bat list, it is approved for play regardless of barrel diameter.
Does USABat have a drop weight limit?
There is no drop-weight limit under USABat. All certified bats that feature the USA Baseball mark and appear on the approved bat list are approved for play in leagues that require USABats regardless of weight or drop wieght. Any bats listed as tee ball bats are only approved for use with approved tee balls.
Intermediate and Junior (Age 11-16) Division Only
With guidance from USA Baseball, Little League International thoroughly reviewed presented information and decided to allow BBCOR and USABat Standard bats for the Intermediate (50/70) Baseball Division and Junior League Baseball Division, effective as of February 15, 2018.

Other Equipment
Does my player need their own helmet?
No, but it is highly encouraged that you provide a batting helmet for your player. Coaches are provided an equipment bag with used helmets from previous seasons, but most players prefer to have their own.
Can my players protective gear be customized?
No. Per Little League International rules helmets and other protective gear should be NOCSAE approved, and be free of any paints, stickers, decals, tape or writing. Manufacturer stickers are approved.
Does my player need their own catcher's gear?
No. KNLL provides all coaches with catcher's equipment that includes a helmet with a throat protector, a chest protector, shin guards and a catcher's mitt.
Does my son need a protective cup?
Yes! All male players in Minors and up (league age 9 or older) must wear a protective athletic cup. It is highly encouraged in lower divisions, but not required.
